I beg to differ, most parents do not take joy in their kiddie crying ruining everyone else's flight. On the contrary I bet the parents would have done almost anything to stop the crying. The kid was more than likely uncomfortable (ears+pressure).
I've been in that situation, I'd rather be the the pissed off passenger who doesnt have kids or want kids (except with some fava beans and a nice chianti) and doesnt remember being a kid than the parent of a kid in pain and no remedy in sight until landing.
I feel your pain but if that was your biggest problem yesterday, you had a pretty good day.
On the other hand if the kid was screaming because he didnt get his way, that would be a good time to ask the parent if he has ever seen the last episode of M*A*S*H*.
