need help with 706z problem
I went to use my 706z for the first time this spring and had an issue. It was really hard to crank. I tore it apart and everything is lubed well. It seems that the problem comes when I crank the handle on. I did mess with it this winter trying extra washers and stuff to get the handle position down when the spool is up. I think maybe I lost a washer. I can't find my schematics. What is there now is a brass looking concave washer that tightly fits on around the male part coming out of the reel body where the handle screws on. When removed it allows the shaft and gear to be removed. There is no other washer on the handle assembly. Should there be?

off topic
this is a little off topic but maybe someone here could help me with a problem i'm having with one of my 704s. i have been fishing eels and when i go to set up on a fish i can't get a good hookset because the drag slips. aside from needing new washers, is there anything else that could be causing this? never had this problem before and i've been fishing these reels for 4 yrs now. TIA

Chances are that the last keyed metal washers is not aligned properly on the spool shaft.
