I understand they wanted to release the fish, but feared it wouldn't make it...

I did release my boat 49.5 lber... but will keep & mount my first surf- caught "50" for sure!

Huge fish around.
Maybe by Sept there may be a 70 among us.

It doesn't look bigger than the 51 on my boat last week

why does it have to be like that? you work your ass off for the fish of a lifetime, why not keep it? it has laid many, many eggs. a 60 pounder has done its job for the striped bass population as far as i'm concerned....
