I've really enjoyed reading this thread, partly because Thanksgiving is probably my favorite holiday of the entire year. I have Pilgrim blood in my veins from both my mom and dad who are retired up on the Cape. My mom's a tried and true Capee, my dad thinks he is, and my 98 year old grandmother is a washashore some 48 years now, so going to Cape Cod for a traditional Thanksgiving is the tradition (that is, weather permitting in 2002). We also find time to look through the volumes of old Cape pictures my dad has and the stories that go with them and usually find time for a "nature walk" somewhere (Wellfleet out towards Jeremy Point being the preferred spot). I finally got my dad into fishing, so we'll rally the troops and target some spots along Bass River from the railroad bridge to the mouth and see if we can't start a new schoolie tradition, too.
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone. Enjoy and have a safe holiday.

For BC and I we will head to his mom and dads for an early dinner, his dad is cooking the turkey and fixings and I am bringing my scalloped potatoes, their favorite. Then we will come home, load my truck as I will be heading home to see my family in PA about 4 AM Friday, its a nice 10 hr drive but well worth getting home to see everybody, sight my gun in on Saturday, BS with some of my brothers and sister. Then on Sunday we will have a big fish fry with the whole family. Last year was the 1st year we did this as I am the fish provider, LMAO and we really had a ball so we are going to do it again this year, then Monday morning it's bambi season, so will will all be out in force in the woods.

On a scarier note I have been having tests done all week on my abdomen as they have found a large mass in my pelvic area, so tomorrow its more test to try and find out what it is, hopefully nothing serious, the try and relax and enjoy the holiday and the trip to come back and have surgery to remove it. YEE HAA, its always something.

Too all of you, may you be blessed with a wonderful, safe and fish filled or bambi filled holiday. God bless all of you!!!!

Amen Mr Macey! Keep up the good work, you'll need to because those kids are awesome (at least at this age they tell me )

Striper77 - I just saw that - I'll put it in there. Personally, I didn't see much beyond some mild ribbing between Sandman & MrMacey

Wink

Thanks everybody, wasn't trying to be a holiday downer, just a little nervous, to have 2 lumps in the body and one is the size of a large orange has me a little edgie to say the least. The other day they told me it was a large ovarian cyst, whcih is no big deal, now they aren't sure!!!!!!!!! SO have another test tomorrow and hopefully it is just a cyst. Either way I will have to have surgery as soon as I come back from PA, which will be the 3rd time in my life they have had to open my abdomen. My body has just about had enough of this SH##. But ya gotta have faith in the big guy upstairs, as I am gonna be fishing by spring!!!!!

I thank you all for your prayers very much.

JohnR, give our love to the misses and the little guy, I really hope you have a wonderful thanksgiving, I know its been a tough year for you as well as alot of members on this board. I am thankful to you for having this site for us all to come together when someone is having a tough time. THANKS!!

Happy Thanksgiving to all and at this time I would like to thank all here for a great year and the chance to be blessed with so many new friends. Best of wishes to all the new Moms and Dads and most of all thanks to John R for this site. I found this place the day after my mother inlaw passed away last Jan. and Jane and I were in a bad way over this loss. But by having some one to talk to about something other than Our loss at that time made it easyer for me to get by and to help Jane at this very hard time. As for what I always have done on Thanksgiving day until just a few years ago I would be out early to my favorite pheasant field and get a few fresh birds for dinner to go with the turkey but I am sorry to say there are no birds left in the area so now its venison to go with the bird. Oh yea the best part of the meal to me is also the stuffing. God bess to all and thanks for giving your friendship to a fellow fisherman.

FW, I'm keeping a good thought for you, hopefully this will be something simple. I'm thinking it's just a new muscle mass from all that late season cod jigging you did.

Wife is working today as she has most holiday's, but we will have a late diner when she gets home and with the middle son just back yesterday from a month long outward bound stay; it should be one to remember.

Hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday....go pats.

Talking

Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving.

This year I broke tradition.

On Thanksgiving Day me and my brother-in-law were on a 50 foot sport fisher somewhere in the Caribbean sea. Trolling rigged ballyhoo, hoping for a blue marlin bite (not quite the peak season for these billfish).

Specatular hit on the outrigger by a sailfish - (*wow*) and then the fish spit the hook ('dese feesh got tough beaks mon'). But, we made up for this by casting tins for some teeny weeny albies and some barracuda.

All in all a great day - got a wicked tan too.
