I think only the blank is covered. talk to the shop that wrapped it...

did they break in the same general area? might be a transport/storage issue...

Bingo--neither one of those blanks are what I would call delicate. The 120 1M is fished a lot at Montauk because guys feel it's durable and can take some rough handling. I have both an All Star and a Batson SU 1088 and those rods are beefy.

Where do you keep your rods when you're not fishing? Is it possible that someone could have sabotaged them while you weren't looking? It would be highly unusual for both a 120 1M and a 1088 to snap at the same time, unless something damaged them in transit or someone %$%$%$%$ed with them.

Wise men speak because they have something to say; Fools, because they have to say something.

No one else has touched or really had access to them. The afternoon before they broke i caught a lot of 8-15lb bluefish on the 1201m and it was fine. Also caught a 15lb bass on it 10 minutes before the 1201m broke. The su1088 has been stored on the wall on a rack sence last season, didnt even use it this year. I use a berkley rod holder that sits on my tail gate of my truck. Maybe thats the problem. Didnt have time yet to compare the breaks on both rods and in relation to the holder on my truck. Will look and post some pix tomorrow.

Sometime you'll have to checkout how I transport rods w/ a rack on my truck box. not as good as what bart has, but gets the job done...

If you had lifted the 15 # bass out of the water the lami may have cracked then after snapping upon the next cast.

The mysterious surf rod break...OOOOH, I hate that sound.. Like a friggin' gun went off, scares the crap out of ya. I've broke a few, broke for no reason at all. I once wrapper an SW 1209 for myself..1st cast with a normal size eel...SNAP!!! Man was I pissed..No way it was user error or damaged...Batson gave me a rash of sh!t saying I knicked it..I know that didn't happen. I once built 2 identical 1209's for a friend..1st snapped on half dozen casts..then he went for the 2nd..snapped on 1st cast in same spot on the blank..I was with him..Witnessed the whole thing..It wasn't even worth the shipping back and forth, never mind the BS you have to deal with to get them to actually honor the warranty..Not even worth it IMO..That's why I built myself a Glass Lami 121 3M..Indestructible..
