Timba-I got some excellecent sources from DZ. I was up there in June BS'n w/him and he was running some of the techniques of yesteryear past me as we looked over some of the old bass stands at Brenton Point. He shared stories that he heard of and they were fascinating to say the least. Some very good theories were put into action and worked...well awesome!!! I have found that a lot of the aging sharpshooters seem to soften as they run on in years, I guess they realize that they can not do it like they once did and feel it is possibly there last shot to pass on something that was really effective and borders on existinction...if you will.

I mean the way I see it first came Newport then Cuttyhunk, Newport seems to be an area where a lot of the striper surf fishing really began. Of those I talk to about the days of old, they refer to the Newport chunkers as the best and as the trendsetters.
The bass clubs on the islands may well have been to escape the women (wives) of the day. It makes logical sense!
