Keep taking pictures and don't drop you pen overboard--you may miss the best line of the day. Better yet bring a voice/burner/recorder/2gig/hard-drive input moderator, along with you.
I'd also finally if I had to recommend something, a triviality perhaps to some, is handy to others in you forthcoming field: a goatee and a smoking jacket.
