during the day this time of year, you'll most likely get blues. Take your friends blues fishing or target stripers at night. 80 lb mono with cheap tin, they'll have a ball

deeper water, structure.
I would suggest looking at tube and worm as a trolling tactic.
This time of year you could be looking at 40 - 50 ' water for structure.
Mussel beds, craggy lumps etc.

and trolling really slow, like 1.5-2 kts water speed , relative speed depending on the tide would be that plus/minus tide flow speed
