They're called "cocks" because of the call they make when flushed

I never liked openning day, especially early morning. Way too many people. Monday should still be good as the birds will be a little more scattered, what is left of them.

Funny but not so, last season two yahoos start hunting 15 minutes early less then 100 feet from the starting spot.
One of the guys yells at me for passing him at about 35 yards, everybody had to pass them.
I told him he was dangerous, and should take a hunters safety course, oh and learn the rules.
So the SOB threatend to shoot me, I talked to a EPO later in the day,
it's a story they hear all the time.

That is sad. Another thing that rots is having to wear safety glasses for your own personal protection.
I haven't been out in the last 3 years. Ever since we had to put "Ralphie" (our english setter) down. Hunting over a dog is so much more enjoyable than just poking around blindly.
Good luck tomorrow.

And people ask me why I don't hunt
Nothing like sharing the woods with a few dozen armed morons on opening day--a good percentage of whom warmed up for the occasion by having a few pops of brandy
