Anybody hitting the ice yet?

Caught a few nice large mouth yesterday and a huge pic. Got a decent pike earlier in the week in Lee. Gotta love XMAS break!

I went hunting for some pike through the ice for the past 2 days. Ended up with a 2lb bass,a 2.5 lb crappie, and some very wet/cold legs (thanks to some crappy ice).

Mikey, what condition is the ice in? Everyone I talk to says it is anywhere from 3-5 of solid ice with about 4-6 inches of icey slush.

The ice has varied according to how north or west I go. Yesterday, I had 6 to 7 inches of solid ice. I heard the day before, it was a puddle on top of about five inches. 2.5 # crappie is a nice tasty fish.

been fishing ponds and lakes in northern NH on the weekends. tuns of trout, all of the species, and perch. going to give cusk a whirl this weekend and see what happens.
local ponds have sucked. except for houghtons, which is definitly not safe now after this warm spell. and illegal to ice fish, so i learned. well they asked me to leave. great place for crappie though.
i wont be fishing locally for a while till this stuff freezes over again.
just picked up my portable ice shelter today...cardboard box and a tarp.

live to fish. fish to live. rod tips high.
