Stan actually started painting his small pencils (3/4) in that flo. color to imitate the seaworm spawn in Late May/early June over in Buttermilk Bay and a few other places.

We tossed it in the Canal in the 70's as the hot plug was the flo. orange 5-1/4 Pencil. A mammoth plug that only could be thrown with a conventional or you would cut the top of your finger off with a hard into it cast on a spinning reel.

Then the bluefish really showed in 74/75 and they ate anyhting that color. But originally it was to imitate sea worm hatches on small plugs/

Why even try.........
