Doh!!! I wish I had received your reply earlier. I went out on the 4/23 Wednesday trip this past week and it was a HUGE mistake.
It being Vacation week, it was overloaded with all seats and standing room taken. If you didn't bring Norwegian Jigs or similar, you were just there for the boatride. Those that knew how caught / snagged fish. Evidently it's spawning season through early May and the Cod are not feeding so snagging seems to be the MO for those seasoned regulars on the boat. I give the staff a whole lot of credit for their patience and ability to untangle the nightmares that occur when the capt. wants to drift fish with 80 people fishing.
It was a birthday gift so I had to use it as somepoint. Weather was delightful, I learned a few things, and the boatride was nice (saw 1 whale). Oh Yeah...my 2 sculpin were added to my catch and release total. HAH!
