I just got back from Bermuda, on one of those "cruise ships" mentioned. We ported at the Naval Dockyard,, opposite end of St. Georges'......

Pretty tight ride into the port, like stated....I never thought I'd see a Cruise ship have to inch it's way through some warning buoys trying to reach the port..... ...gotta be fish in that channel when the big ship's aren't in motion .... ??? . ...

First time there and I thought it was a Beautiful place. Yeah, pretty commercial the closer you get to Hamilton. HorseShoe Bay was Awesome, sand still had some pink in it,,, very CLEAN beach w/showers soap/Corona Stand and Grill.,,, that was probably the highlight of the island for me. Water was AWESOME,,, nothing here to compare it to. I did see the resident fishermen working the bridges like Clamma said....catching small fish,///not sure they were chubs though. Mainly bottom feeders,, being caught with small crabs.

I didn't rent a taxi, I paid for the BUS day/pass. $12 and you can get on and off all day. I didn't think that was bad. I took a tour of the island and didn't have to take a $75.00 "excursion".

I was only there for about 8 hours so fishing was out of the question///~ Place was clean and people were friendly, maybe they prepared in advance for the Cruise ship ?? Or maybe cuz I spoke their language ??? ...

Did you get to check out the aquarium at all or the caves? Horseshoe Bay is definitely sweet but I think Elbow Beach has to be the best on the island and like you said showers, soap and everything else you need. If you had taken a right as you walked out to Horseshoe beach you would have found Elbow beach, they're right next door to each other. Glad you had a good time!

Insanity is a long and winding road ... I think I finally made it there.

I was kinda curious about that too considering I'm there at least once a year.

Must be something from having half grown up there, they clean the place and spraypaint Church Bay pink again whenever I show up.

In regards to the "chubs"....???

While in Grand Turk, I took a charter out, and while speaking with the captain, he told me the day before...he was out spear-fishing for Chubs. ???.....I guess the juvenile chubs hang out near the bridges while the adults are in the reefs??? I had no idea what "chubs" were.....I thought chubs hung out with mummys ???....that's what I get for being a greenhorn I guess ~ ... ASSuming Grand Turk chubs are the same as Bermuda's chubs...

This captain won the 2007 Grand Turk Mahi Mahi Tourney. Nice guy, but too many people sharing the charter. We trolled BIG pluggage and pre-tied Ballywhores.....

Took my pops with me, (guy with the Bacardi hat on, not bad for 68 ).....These fish fight harder than I'd ever imagined.......

Ok, yeah....I did see a path that forked to the right - - - - right after the Corona stand, that would have led to Elbow beach huh? I should have taken the walk.... Figured it was for lovers...

NO ....on the aquarium. Would it have been worth it ? I LOVE Aquariums!!! I did the Semi-Sub/Aquarium Tour while on St. Thomas. That was pretty cool. Wife was entertained too ~

......yeah, you ain't kiddin' .......it's a very colorful island....and I'm not talking about the landscape. Most houses shared the same colors.....light blues, pinks, light tans, aquas.....made the place look extra perrty.....like they painted it for the Cruise ship. I was in AWE as we drove around. The Golf course was incredible too. The worlds smallest draw-bridge was hilarious too........

I really can't say anything bad about it.........

If you're talking about the Belmont, many bad things have happened on that golf course.
