Larry..How do you know its going to cost more??Are you a licensed appraiser??? lol..1st off calm down...Just because you have received a check for the initial amount doesnt mean that is the final amount..You have the right to bring your truck to whatever body shop you choose..Decide on a shop,bring it there along with your insurance appraisal and the shop will then negotiate with your insurance company a final cost and repair the truck accordingly...No problem..This happens all the time..Believe me..I have been doing it for 20 years..
By the way..If truck has less than 20,000 miles all OEM PARTS must be used..
Its just a process that has to be followed..

Larry,
They sent you a check because thats the process like Mike said.
The check is for the amount of the original estimate the appraiser wrote.
most likely less the deductible amount .
They will write a supplement for the additional repairs and there will be a 2nd check sent.
Just about EVERY job we fix there is a supplement involved, lots of times 2 or 3 of them !!!

Because that is what they have initially decided how much its going to cost to repair...Just because you recieved a check it doesnt mean that thats the end of of the claim.The 1st check always goes to the owner of the vehicle...Once at the shop they will call for a supplement if need be,and the company will issue an additional check

Because 9 out of 10 times cash is king and they figure they'll never hear from you again. Most would be happy to pocket the cash and F%$#@ the vehicle so ins. co gets off cheap. Don't be one of them guys Larry, they will do a supplement if the repair goes over estimate, sometimes it's a PIA waiting game but they'll pay in the end.
