Jason Bay--welcome to the American Lague and real major league pitching.
Rank this trade in about a month, when Manny's hitting like .340 against NL pitchers and piling up numbers for next year's deal.
He's got the perfect excuse now--unhappy in Boston, but look at what I did when I was playing where I was appreciated

Manny will do great for the Dodgers, but what would he have done if he stayed in Boston? Would he have packed it in in mid August like he did 2 years ago? You can't judge this trade based on what Manny does in a Dodger uniform.
As for Bay, he may be another Renteria. In Pittsburgh, he didn't have as much protection in the lineup as he'll have in Boston. Nady and McClouth are good players, but that's all he had this year in Pittsburgh protecting him. He might do much better with Ortiz, Pedroia, Lowell, Drew and Youkilis around him in the lineup. Time will tell.

Dodgers did well in the deal... I think Boston was forced to give up too much (Hansen and Moss) considering the 7 million they're ponying up for Manny's remaining contract.
$20 million a year.... figure a 30 week season, that's like $666,000 a WEEK, before Uncle Sam and the agent's cut. He's a dope, and here's to management, ownership, and the players (who I heard were almost unanomous in their vote) for standing up to players who put themselves before the team and society in general.
$666,000 a week...get real. They should all be capped at one million a year.

FINALLY
What's it been, 7 years of
I don wanna play no more
I don wanna be here
I don wanna run to 1st base
I don wanna catch da ball
I gotta peee
He brought this on himself, he gets what he wants, the team pays for it.
He and Pedro can go home
I am sorry, I am so disillusioned by professional athletics these days, but then they don't get paid to think, they get paid to play.
Hire an agent to think.

Not anymore. The last one of those cookie cutter stadiums from the 70s is Shea, and it's in its final season. Even Dodger Stadium isn't as big as it used to be. The Stick, Riverfront, Three Rivers, The Vet, Olympic Field, Busch II, the Astrodome, all gone.

Very few stadiums have as big a left field as Yankee Stadium. Manny did OK there over the years. Jacobs Field was pretty spacious in left, too.
