Update.

Well I tested out this rod for 5 hours and I got to say... It is much stiffer that I thought. Was a bit difficult to load even a 3oz bottle. 2 and 1/2 oz darters...poor. In fact this rod to me seems more suited to a rating 4-8 instead of a 2-6.

As a jigging rod - No problem bouncing with 12" Sluggos with 5oz heads. If fact, this is a much better heavy jigging stick than a plug rod. Seems that if there was a sweet spot it would be 4oz or so IMO. 2oz is much too light for this thing. Didn't get a chance to fight any good fish on it (wish I had used it yesterday), but I'm sure it can handle any striper out there. It's a powerful beast, but not what I'm looking for. Have to agree with Hardbait on this one. Back it goes and the search continues...

Should also mention that I was not overly impressed with the Fuji Concept Guide System as it seemed to bottleneck my casts, but that's possibly due to the probs I had with the blank... or not.

Someone at the canal said that this rod was much stiffer than their 1 Piece SSU. The one piece I originally looked at also seemed much less stiff. Not sure what to think of that.

really? weird.. the sweet spot on mine is 3. and 1' and 2's throw pretty damn well. i have some trouble with anything over 4. a decent shock leader solves that though. it (mine) doesnt do to well with anything over 6. tried tossing one of the 8oz shads earlier in the season, if i laid into it it might have shattered. and 3-4 and bait, very iffy. cant really lay into it.

also i love the new guides system. i had braid on for a while and it wasnt anything special. but when i switched over to mono recently... it casts much better than other rod i have ever had with appropriate sized mono on it. though i was told mono would be a waste of its capabilities it turned out to actually emphasis them

i dont have much to compare it too other then my friends arsenals of specialty rods. (ya know 1 for 1 for that) and honeslty prefer for almost anything except the lightest of plugs (4inch plastic poppers, rebels and what not)

it definitely is a power house with a fish (or rock) on though. and it is pretty stiff (just how i like em)

understand its not what yer looking for.. i just find it interesting yer experience differed so greatly than mine on the weight front.
