Ever notice that regardless of conditions, someone will try and get further out than you? I don't like that "extreme" mindset where a person puts themselves in danger then yells for help when it goes south and expects a more sensible person to accept their risk to save them.

I with you Joe - hence my recommendation of what should have been done with the fish.

It's one way to cleanse the gene pool, I guess - but Niko put himself at considerable risk performing a rescue in tough conditions. Cheers to him for that!

You know, I hope never to be put in that position, myself - although I have made up an MOB (man overboard) throw-line that I now carry on my plug bag.

Think about the risk to yourself and others before taking a chance like that in a heavy sea - had that guy over the side been more experienced, he wouldn't have found himself in that position - hopefully, anyway

I pulled somebody out of the rocks at Weekapaug on a night when there was a big sea on - a long time ago. That ended up being a very close call for me also.
I used to love to fish the breachways under rough conditions - there would always be fish inside, but after that I stopped going. I did not want to be put in another situation where I would have to either risk my life, or commit a sin of omission in not helping someone in distress.
