Striperfest Comments?

I thought OTW did a fantastic job this year! Many great changes! Lots more room with all the various tents and all that outside area to move around! Kids casting game was a hit! Lots more porta-potties! Best part was dumping the "Ooompa Band"!! Close second was the "200 pound striper" who paraded the Striper Cup around! Nice work Jimmy! There was a great crowd but I was surprised at the lack of familiar faces this year from both S-B and MSBA? Those I did see I enjoyed hanging out with!

How about the guy who got his name drawn to win the boat and was not present?!?!?! So they drew another name!!! Hate to be that guy!!! Bet he ain't sleepin' right now!

Almost time to get our fish on!!!

Unfotunately, they end the tournament way too early and have this event on a day when fishing is at it's peak, so I don't attend, 2nd year in a row that the fishing has been so good that it would be a shame to waste it in a tent at a brewery in south boston when I can be chasing bass in my boat or on the canal or the beach.

I would rather fish than give up one of the limited days we have left for the season.

And that is exactly what I did and thouroughly enjoyed myself and Numbskulls company as well.

Why even try.........

Awesome party. A lot more room to walk around.

No oompah band

The guy who won the boat should name it after the guy that wasn't there when they called his name.

I wonder if they ever thought about having the event at the beginning of November and including October in the fishing. Would make sense. They may have just been trying to tie it into the time of the boat show.

i think they time the end of the tournament to both coincide with their octoberfest / harpoonfest thing and out of respect to the Vineyard Derby.

I thought it was set up much better than last year. Didn't seem to be as many people as last year, maybe because atleast one person left early, what a shame. They did give the guy a 5 minute chance. I havn't heard anything bad about the parking.

Not bad. Smaller crowd than I expected. Not too many familiar faces either. It was nice to see some of the guys in a different venue than on the rocks at night.

I wished it was more geared to a sit down event. I wasn't ready to stand for several hours after a marathon week fishing the rocks.

Fishing was too good, beer (after the first freebie) and food too expensive, parking's a pain in the ass, and most of all, I couldn't afford to win the boat

The IRS taxes it as straight income based on sticker, and you'd be lucky to be able to sell it at 60 cents on the dollar in today's economy--if you could sell it at all before you'd have to mail away the estimated tax check. Maybe the first guy took all of that into consideration and really was there when they called his name

Ending this thing in september is like having a leaf-raking competition in september...Most of the leaves havent even fallen yet!!! Who cares what works best for them...it just defies logic, since october is the best damn month to fish!!!

I agree, too early, need at least until the end of Oct.
Although it rained most of the day after sunrise down on the Cape, at least the wind and wave stayed away.
But then at least where my boat was and it was alot of places, the fish had gone to striperfest.

Like most get togethers, its the side sessions with friends old and new that make the event.
The show itself was pretty good, but didn't blow me away. Its the first time I've been to the brewery so it was a fun experience.

The highlight for me, however, came during my last 10 minutes in the parking area. An unidentified person approached my driver side window as I was attempting to summon someone behind him for a ride.....

It was none other than our beloved BassDawg....

THANKS, i think?

it was a good time, seeing some familiar faces~~
jimmySly, TonyO, BF, the Boss, Dan the man, the dynamic Duo, and the Iron One
was, naturally, in rare form. my apologies to Mr McKenna, i never even made it over to the VS tent

it was nice to meet some new (to me) surfrats;
redlite, Sea Dangles, BB, Dave, Casey, RobT and it was fun

just to hang out and toss back sum Octoberfest while swapping tales
of the BIGGUNS that got away and borrow some sharpie tips from the wily StriperCoast vets that were there,,,,,,,,,,,

that Harpoon October WAS rather TASTY ~~
not a bad beer for SBoston, eh??

the parking was adequate and my grilled sword sammy
was excellent,,,,,,,,,even the singing fisherman was entertaining.
i'd say that a GOOD time was had by ALL!! Nice Work OTW, and

THANKS, for a great tourney and a cool BASH to celebrate the victors!!!
