"Streets of Fire" (friends of mine from an 80's rock band played the band in the movie
The movie starred Michael Pare, Diane Lane, Rick Moranis, Willem Defoe and a young Bill Paxton.
The band was a local band called "Face to Face"
Diane Lane's character just happened to look an awful lot like an ex of mine from the same timeframe, only my ex had long blonde hair.

Larry digging all the old movies...especially the Horror/Sci-fi
I try and turn my kids on to the older flicks, they love The Day the Earth Stood Still...To bad hollywood felt the need to remake it
I worked with a kid that was 23....he won't watch a movie if its Black and White that's rediculous......I could come up with 100 B&W Movies that are a must see.
I'm surprised you forgot to mention The Grapes of Wrath
