ya, that was a bonehead move, he blew that
BBJ got it right, just doing what Cassel was supposed to and what he was told by the coach to take time off the clock because they knew The Rams would call a timeout after the whistle, but no time even came off the clock at all so belichick let the refs have it since matt did not take a knee. The way I see it, it's no different from trying to draw an offsides with a hard count. The Rams should have tried to knock Cassel down, but they did not, they just assumed he'd take a knee. The officials should just officiate.
