I think building your own is more rewarding than buying one, not saying that I don't support the sponsors, but its just a fun process to do it yourself.
make a couple of shapes and sizes to see what you like, put the weight in a couple different places, its a lot of fun to play around with it.
A basic spook shape is where the fattest part of the body is about 1/3 of the way back from the front, and then just taper both ends to a point, or close to a point. Start with that basic shape, and play around to see what works best for you.

These are the basic Spook shapes. Any shape other than this is altogether a different plug style

I like lighter more buoyant woods, like Basswood or Western Red Cedar. Add a little lead here and there and you will be good to go.
Buoyancy = action.
