Usually the only goal of these pirates is to get to the Masters office and open the safe and scoot.

They usually will get anywhere from 40,000 to 100,000 dollars.

The ship and its cargo are of no use to the pirates.

I have had colleages boarded and tied up years ago. Actually they rolled him up in a throw carpet.......

This happens daily though out the world.

Unfortunately we can't be the globe's police. The saudis' can't afford armed protection for a ship like this?

yup..if they harm hostages- send in the commandos and exterminate the badguys. if you keep paying ransom they'll keep hijacking...

Anyway, this has been going on for a while. Beamie, the ransoms are millions of dollars these days for the ship and crew. The navies aren't doing much because of legal malarkey once they intervene and it is not a high enough priority for most nations.
