If you are trying to make a bunch the same, I'd use a router with a pattern bit. Make the pattern out of 1/4" material.
What i mean by a pattern bit is http://woodworker.com/cgi-bin/FULLPR...%20Trim%20Bits
It's easier to get the pattern right if you make it out of thin material. Drill a hole for the round end.
You only need to make one pattern, you can move it to make three rod grooves. Just make it big enough to clamp on the piece.

hey freak i have the same saw as you and i got to tell you the trick.
you are using the blade that came with it are you not?
well if you are you need to scrap it and go get a fine cut blade for it and all your problems will be solved trust me.
i went threw the same problems and many i know have had the same problem we all made the switch and all is good now.
