Free Tying Classes and more at the SWE

Free Tying Classes at the SWE

This class is led by Captain Corey Pietraszek. Itís far less structured then Steveís classes and is just a good old fashioned tying session. While itís targeted at more experienced fly tyers, if youíre looking to get started in fly tying we wonít leave you behind.

Materials and tying vices are NOT included in this class, but between the SWE and the generosity of people who attend we can usually put together everything you need if youíre just getting started. Kids are welcome! Even if you only want to learn how to tie some bucktail on a treble hook for a plug, thatís fine too.

We often have guest tyers in this class. Last yearís list included Joe Cordeiro, Bill Murphy, Eric Taylor, and more.

Class runs from 6pm to whenever (usually a 9pm cut off though). They will be held on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday every month except for December. Those dates will be December 3rd and 17th since they conflict with holidays.

Tying classes with Steve Cook:

These are structured classes designed to get you started with a great foundation in fly tying and then move on to more advanced fly tying techniques. All materials are included in the entry fee of $60 and a vice and tools (if needed) are available.

These classes are taught in three separate courses (stages)... Beginners, Intermediate, and Advanced and cover material management, design, and techniques. In this manner, the student will learn to tie any fly he/she may see, or read about. Each course is comprised of three classes, each of two hours duration. Class begins at 6:00pm, and meets for three weeks in a row. Tuition is payable at registration in order to guarantee a seat. Classes are limited to no more than eight students.
