Ross - I have vista in this laptop and XP on my main computer. On the vista unit I haven't had any problems since I got rid of zone alarm firewall. It runs fine and no hangups. Did you run the updates? Computers are a love hate deal.
Don, the updates are run as soon as they come up. Last one, on 12/5 seemed to frig up performance, so I backed up to 12/4. I delete cookies, cache, history, etc on almost a daily basis. And I have Mcafee tweaked up pretty tight. I think XP is in the near future for my peace of mind.....
