I agree, balance is more about the geometry than the distribution of weight. While they're obviously related when at rest, in motion there's a difference.

Lami actually makes extensions for the SS series.I think so they could make 13 ft heavers.
They slide over the top if I am not mistaken.Which is too late in your case.I have extended the butt on a some gator blanks( a basically indestructible glass blanks from FLA) that only came in 8 ft lengths.A old blank in the butt epoxied in and rapped to make the transition smooth. Was a old bridge rod for me.Built with the help of a few old friends who are now gone.I have thousands of fish on it.Would lift 12lbers over the rail.Never a problem.

For a spinner I actually like a shorter but length than most.I feel it is important for the butt of the rod to clear my body when I cast.I hold the rod off my hip so balance is not the issue as if I held the rod under my elbow.Which would kill me all night with a rod of 10' or longer..BTW I basically fish exclusively with a 11' rod.Paired with the 300 VS it could double as a anchor.
You wanna laugh..
My canal set-up is a 10' Breakaway 1209 That I taped the Saltiga 6000 on below the reel seat..I think the butt section on that was 28 inches to the center of the seat.Tape doesn't bother me as all of my reels are taped on.I also just rapped the old seat up with tape.I had intentions of cutting it off but it does not bother me. I figured why run the risk of cutting the blank and ruining the rod..Thats the way it stays to this day. It's a good thing I fish in the dark..
