My BIL and I were snagging pogies in Welfleet Harbor years ago. When we were done we paddled the canoe in. I jumped out to drag it up on the beach and learned that oyster shell is like broken glass on bare feet. Cut my feet to hell and gone. Took a year for all the sand to work it's way back out of the soles of my feet.

He that would make his own liberty secure, must guard even his enemy from oppression; for if he violates this duty, he establishes a precedent that will reach to himself.

only sorta fishing related. Got some lobsters and decided to split them and throw them on the grill. Never try to split the tail from the top hard side while holding it down with left hand. 10" chef knife stopped at the bone on my pointer. Bloody mess, nice scar. Worst of all my wife made me throw out the bloody lobster.
