Barry, I fish off the North Shore (Rockport). I will take you there in May or summer. PM me whenever you want to go fishing. Or better, send me an email to this address, it's a two-way pager, JosephTien@wyndtell.com.

Hi Guys,
My name is Rick, I own a small restaurant in Needham and live in Medway.
I love to cook (good thing) and got to meet lots of people through our get together a couple of weeks ago.
I have a brother who looks like me and is absolutely crazy. Usually I fish with him. I also tote him around as an assistant; he can be quite handy and very funny. Good thing for the problem kids of Springfield, as he is their adjustment counselor. Lately he has been working on Chris L.
Anyhow, I fish Cape in Spring, Rockport in Summer, Rhody in fall. As I work all the time, and am married, and an insomniac sleepwalker, fishing is a very convenient pastime for me.
Curently seeking therapy for the sleepwalking thing, most experts say don't sleep, keep fishing and I will feel better. I am very confident in their advice.
I love the boards, and everybody affiliated with them. If anybody messes with John or BM or Specialist or nightfighter I will sick my brother and Chris on them to subdue them with bad fish rapping and 80's metal.
Seriously, you guys are loads of fun and take up most of my spare time.
Later,
Rick

my name is mike and i am a 29 yr old carpenter from weymouth, ma. i have been fishing for as long as i can remember. my father used to take me flounder fishing at the hingham shipyard and we spent quite a bit of time sweetwater fishing at various south shore ponds. he used to tell me that the striped bass were wiped out. i believed him til about 5-6 yrs ago when a buddy of mine insisted i go down to the back river with him. i caught a striper that day and have been hooked since.

Another Mike, I'll be 50 on my next birthday. Got reared in surf fishing early on by my dad, struck out on my own after he died 22 years ago. Used to bass commercially back in the day. Born in Pawtucket, and family still has a summer shack in South Plymouth. Most of my early fishing was the Canal and the Cape beaches. Now exiled to Eastern LI. I have two kids, soon to be 10 and 13. They live with their Mom. Recently remarried and the new bride is a math teacher and a fly "fisherperson".
Charter member of the Lepers with Canalrat1.
One time internet head-butter, now mostly the old sage who lets the youngsters do the flaming while I sit on the edge and egg them on
And yes, for those who don't know, I am Ditch Jigger on SOL.

from parts unknown, weight unknown...
hi, i'm seawolf. not to be affiliated w/ the seawolfe tackle company. i chose this name before i made that realization. been around these boards since most were created. i remember the old wmi days and those great wars. i miss those days... i've been known for a good battle or 2 on these boards and i'm not afraid to state my point or feelings on an issue.
been fishing since my old man thought i'd like the sea and be able to handle it. sold the boat and since i have learned to fish the surf. never looked back! still fish from the boat from time to time mostly for fluke, fly fishing for speedsters, and for stripers. my primary passion is the surf. if you can find me, i'm usually fishing the south shore of rhody at anytime except winter. i do a little fw fishing in the spring and summer and some ice fishing in the winter. i don't hunt, but i get all the tails from my friends.
i'm also a rod builder. been doing that for many years. i do this both commerically and for myself. there isn't much i don't do. i tie flies, jigs, rigs, pour lead, etc.

My name Jose Jimanez... (not really)
Boy if that doesn't date me.
I'm Hugh and I'm from Delaware. I'm known as "Plug" here and other places on the web. I mostly lurk here because of the colloquial nature of the board but think it's a great site with a fine bunch of guys.
I make my bread managing a grain elevator but my calling in life is to be a minister of the Gospel and a church pastor. I'm 47 years old and have been married for 26 very happy years and have four children.
I've been an outdoors person all my life and enjoy hunting deer, turkeys, ducks, geese and doves with traditional archery equipment and shotgun. However fishing has always been the pursuit that winds my clock and I am happiest standing on the end of a wave washed jetty, on a coal black night, with water all around me and a million stars overhead, whilst casting plugs, jigs or rigged eels into the ocean for rockfish.

My name is Jamie, and I've lived in Connecticut my entire life. No one in my family ever liked to go fishing, but we did go camping occasionally. One year at the campground, when I was 7, I was hanging out at a fishing pond watching kids catch bluegills. I told my Dad it looked like fun, so he bought me a little Zebco outfit. Five minutes later, I hooked a 4-pound largemouth, and I was hooked.
We lived near Long Island Sound, so I naturally progressed to fishing for stripers and blues. Turned it up a notch with my good friend Marc Z a few years ago.
I split my time 50/50 between boat and shore. Since my wife (of 6 months) and I building a house this fall, the boat will likely have to go. Looking forward to spending more nights at the beach.

My name is Greg. I'm pretty sure I'm 33 but I don't have my license handy... I've been married over 7 years and now have 3 beautiful daughters... one 5 year old who could out-negotiate Johnny Cochran and two new (should be) one month old twins. Hopefully, they will be sleeping enough by May to allow some fishing time. Otherwise, my wife's gonna be yellin' at me alot.
I got my business degree at Penn State (HOME OF THE NITTANY LIONS!!), but switched to an IT career in the Financial Affairs office at Boston U a couple years ago... a little web stuff, some desktop support, etc. Much more my style.
Enjoy spending time with the family, workin' around the house and yard. When I find the time, I love to workout and practice a little martial arts (not quite to Notaro's level. I thought of offering to get together with Notaro to fish, workout, etc. but I know the difference between sparring and getting beat up ).
Unfortunately, I like to eat about as much as workout. Sometimes more.
Fishing has always been a huge part of me. I grew up in Western PA and fished for bass and trout with my dad, uncle and cousins. All artificials for bass. Garden hackle for trout (aka worms), some flies. Lots of camping trips, etc. My mother's side of the family had roots in Mass and we vacationed in Nantucket several times when I was growing up. I got into quite a few bluefish blitzes on those trips and even caught a nice 24lb striper one year.
Moved to Quincy, MA (now in Weymouth) in '94 after school and only fished on vacations, etc. I really was missing something and I had no idea what fishing opportunities were around. I met John R in '97 and we discussed some fishing. The next season we fished as often as we could and my saltwater obsession has snowballed since. I cut my teeth eelin' with John and it was all surf until the past couple seasons. After one season in an aluminum bass boat, I bought a 17' center console last year. I mostly just fished light tackle and artificials in Boston Harbor this past year. I'd like to work on my live bait fishing for bigger fish this year, but I'm usually pretty happy to just to get out there and get a few fish.
Over the past 3 years, I've also become a bit psycho over fishing down in Florida for redfish, snook, trout, etc. Haven't targeted tarpon yet. The sight fishing on the flats really appeals to me and I even brought it into my striper fishing last year in Nantucket and even Boston Harbor. I could work a flat all day.
This is a fantastic site with some really cool people. I knew and learned alot from John and Fisherwoman/Baitcaster before it started, and since I have been turned into a bit of a plastic nut by Got Stripers. I haven't been able to take advantage of all the site has to offer (get togethers, reel maintenance), but I really enjoy the on-line friendships here. I encourage people to participate, 'cause these are some of the nicest darn people you could meet. Just outright generous people.

OK, I guess I have to give a little history about myself.
Well, I’ve been an active member, supporter and participant for organizations such as the IGFA, LIBBA, NYSFF, RFA, SCA and NYFTTA.
In addition, I’ve traveled extensively to seek out many elusive fishes that tug the end of my line. I’ve fished throughout most part of the United States and other countries such as South America (Brazil), Central America (Nicaragua and Honduras), Mexico (Cabo San Lucas, Cancun, Cozumel and Mazatlan) and the Canadian borders.
I’ve also been cited in many publications such as the Newsday, Daily News, The New York Post, NY Times, The Fisherman, NorEast, Offshore and the SaltWater Sportsmen.
All in all, during the process, I’ve been very fortunate to be able to meet and fish with many national and international fishing celebrities throughout the globe which am honored and humbled to call them my personal friends.
My interest lies in big game, surfcasting, bottom & wreck, Extreme, Kayak, flycasting, light tackle and freshwater fishing… With strong emphasis on chasing those bottom dwellers and the elusive stripers.
Furthermore, I am a field tester for several fishing products and fortunate to be able to spend many days on the water enjoying what I do best. The previous years, I’ve been able to log over 265 days a year on the water and this year is no exception.
I was born in Hong Kong, raised in Brazil and for the past 30 years now a proud citizen of this great United States!
With nearly 40 years of fishing experience, my goal is to promote this wonderful sport to the best of my ability and get as many new comers to partake in this wonderful sport. Its all part of giving back with great hopes that this sport will endure as long as our body of waters exists.
Now that I’ve bored you with my credentials… Can we talk fish?

Name is Russ--Live in Granby, Ct./Southwick,Ma.Was married 30 years-divorced. Still friends with ex. Close to son--fish together etc. We all live within 6 miles.Seriously started saltwater 3 years ago. Almost entirely Rhody south shore. Strictly surf-fisherman.Don't do the overnight thing--have to leave here at 2:30 A.M. to get there at false dawn. Not driving myself crazy looking for trophies----enjoy the company and conversation with people of like interests.
Would like to thank John for the site and the effort he puts into it!!!!! I've been all over the internet and this is the best saltwater site---by far. And maybe not so coincidently, the best people seem to dwell here.

OK, I'm Ross, or Rosco. Been in Marblehead area most of my 45 years. On the water for most of em too, except up till five years ago,, it was focused on making racing sailboats go fast, or building or delivering them to the next race. Hmmm.....five years ago is when I also got divorced after 15 years. And I found great solace and pure pleasure learning about the pursuit of stripers, especially from the surf! It's become a passion. I do get out on the boat and do a little chartering on a friend's 28' Pursuit. (Really using all of that 100 ton ticket, huh Red Crabber?) After 21 yrs managing other people's money, I am now a Gen Contractor, mostly remodeling, finish work, etc.
Got great, well adjusted 10 year old twins, B/G, who will appease dad occassionally and go fishing with him. I am blessed just to be their dad.
Glad to say I am more comfortable in my own skin now than any time I can remember, and fishing helped me get there. Hell, I even fish with others now! I consider fishing one of the major gifts I received from the divorce. Life is good. Not perfect, but good nonetheless. Friend of Bill W.
Would love to see more S-B members venturing up this way.
Thanks to the guys who've assisted me so much, you know who you are. JohnR, carryon, it's all good.

Name's Bill, live in South Kingstown RI. 39 years old, married with two daughters, 8 and 11 -- none of whom like fishing! Been fishing the area beaches and rocks for about 15 yrs, mostly plugging and jigging, but also love light tackle and plastics. Also have a 15 foot boat that I run out of Salt Pond for inshore fishing, but love the surf, especially in the spring and fall. A great bunch of people on this board

Hi All,
Live just north of Philadelphia and fish the Jersey coast Except for when I visit your fishing heaven. My father-in-law has a house in Eastham so we usually spend 1-2 weeks a year up there. Not being the most accomplished saltwater fisherman I mostly lurk here, not having much to add. I hope you guys don't mind me spying on the knowledge you guys give
Wife is from Worcester MA and I have a 18 month old and twins due late April so my fishing time will be less cosidering i am 1 1/2 from the beach. Fish for Stripers and Flounder with a friend off his boat and do overnight trips to the surf.
As my yearly pilgramage draws closer I'm sure I'll be asking a lot more questions.
Thanks for such a great board

My turn.....my name is Steve, but I go by the handle of Homerun or Saucey.....raised on Long Island and have fished all the waters of Orient Point, Montuak, Hallocks Bay, Sherlter Island, the Dumps, the Race, the Gut, etc.....fortunate enought to have a few boats at my disposal as a kid....moved up to MA about 15 years ago and took a 12 year leave from fishing......got a surf rig about 10 years ago and played around on Matunuck, but needed to get back into a boat....so, I bought the Whaler last spring and really enjoyed BI, PJ and all the Cape (Cuttyhunk, Hyannis, Horseshoe Shoals, Monomoy, etc)... I have fished many waters including Pacific Northwest, Alaskan, Mexico, Chesapeake and Florida. My signiture fish was a 210 pound yellowfin tuna off BI coast.
I am married to a saint (for 14 years now, so I guess I am the "Marriage Grandpa" around here at the tender age of 38)...we have 2 great girls -- Kim who is 11 now and whose nickname is Saucey (hence the boat handle), and Kelly who is 4 (whose nickname is Soupy).....all three of them HATE fishing, so I often get the solitude of early morning fishing in silence on my Whaler.....cast and retrieve.....cast and retrive.........
I am a veteran of the computer industry for 15 years now and am very proficient in all areas of technology....have always been in sales, most notably all enterpsie-wide solutions, including ERP, CRM, PLM/PDM, WMS, APS, MRP/CRP, Asset Management, BI, Analytics, CFPR, Datawarehousing, Data Marts, Logistics and the rest of the alphabet soup technologies.....with the collapse of the technology market 2 years ago, I have found myself looking for work.....it is so slow out there it is pathetic.....guess that just means I'll be fishing everyday this spring and summer.... Too bad for me......
I have had great help from many on this board....too many to mention......all the folks are great and I look to reciprocate in any way I can this year....good luck to all.

Hi I'm Saltheart. real name is Mike . In the non fishing world , I'm an Engineer. Once had my own company making space reentry materials. Now I work for a big company in the area.
I was born in , live in and hope to die in RI (but not too soon). Grew up in central falls and cumberland. still live in Cumberland.
I fished southern RI for about 25 years and now , for the last five , fish mostly at the Dicth but still fish RI early and late in the season. I have always been a 95% surf fisherman. Smokey and I fish together every week at least once and more when time allows. I have had a sailboat for 21 years now but only troll off the back when there is no wind. Sailed everything from New Haven to Nantucket in my Bristol 22. Probably have to sell it this year do to health concerns. I consider myself an expert surffisherman. Know every inch of the RI coast and some parts of MA. Always loved fishing from when I was a kid doing freshwater myself and going to the saltwater with my Portogee uncles. caught a cod fish off the west wall back in about 1965! never had use for stripers when i was young but got hooked on chasing them in 77 and now that's all i really target. fish catch and release about 99%. kept about 3 fish in the last three years.
I love the ocean. fishing , sailing , digging for clams or just sitting on the beach. I feel alive when I breath ocean air.
I like to do handcrafts. Been making jewelry from silver and goldsmithing to cutting and setting stones. started making custom rods and love to do the thread art. Built the addition on my house myself including a full bathroom. always liked working with my hands. Had an auto repair business back when i was in graduate school. Also like to cook but have to watch what i eat lately so that puts a damper on gourmet cooking.
I'm single but attached. No kids but love them. Love dogs and especially cats. Always had one or the other or both. In fact I like almost all animals and almost all people. Anyway , that's the story of my life.

Do I have to???
Ok,I guess I will, sinse I'm the new guy on the block.
I'm 28,I live on that long island in NY.I grew up on the water,& have been fishing since I was able to cast myself. My dad took me everywhere he went.& taught me alot.I've fished from the skinny waters to the deeps of the hudson canyon.I've owned several boats in my years, but now I can't afford 1,Except my freshwater boat(my other luv). Now I just fish on freinds boats.I can honestly say I am a High school drop out due to my luv of fishing.(should I be proud of that)No I'm not.I would put fishing instead of earning a degree,I now wish I didn't,but it's to late now.I own my own Drywall bussiness, which is doing well.I was allways good with my hands & not my brain.
I have been fishin the suds for about 10 or more yrs now.Take away some time I went down south(1 year)to start my life over & get away from the bad things.I have been back for 5 yrs now,& all that is history. For the last 5 years I can say I have been a diehard, surf rat & fish from 4-7 days a week. My family thinks I am crazy as all I talk is fish talk.I am not married & don't plan on it.I own a small ranch with all I need in the back is my man cave.I spend allot of time in there, doing my newly found hobby of making plugs.I'm new at it & still wanting to learn.Just like fishin the surf.Everytime I meet another Diehard or old timer I learn somethin new.
I could go on for days about my life, but I think I've bored you enough.I am new to this computer thing,as I've only been online for a little over a year.Thats my story.
Who's Crazy Al???Never heard of Him

My last name is Bailey - that's where the Beetle comes from - been called that since grammar school. 44 yrs. - married - 2 teens. Just got back into the fishing scene last year. Fished with my Dad from a young age into my late teens - then discovered Girls and getting buzzed.
Got married - had two kids and fell into a carreer. The end. Sounds like Al Bundy - don't it ?? (i don't sell shoes )
Anyway, re-joined MSBA and have been helping the club with whatever i can - you'll hear a lot from me about the Charity Tournament coming in June.

Hey all! My name's Bob. It's been a lomg time since I've posted here. Long hiatus. Been out of commission (health problems) for a while. Back on my feet again and ready for a good year of fishing on the salt. Mainly fishing out of my boat. I can't seem to get enough. I grew up fishing the sweetwater until a friend took me striper fishing about 15 years ago in Duxbury. I caught my first keeper and have been hooked ever since and am still learning new stuff every year. Been married 23 years (she doesn't fish but loves to eat them). We have one daughter whose not such a bad fisherperson in her own right, but I now have a grandson of 2 1/2 years old. Can't wait until he's old enough to fish with "Pa". He already owns a rod and reel and likes to break it out and imitate Pa when he sees me with my stuff out.
Anyways, John R, and all else who help out here, you got a great site here and a lot of good people on board. I should be posting more from now on.
See you all on the water!
