Unfortunately, the chances on "something tragic" happening are extremely slim. Shark attacks are extremely rare and typically surfers are the victims - few surfers in our waters.

The general populace is stupid. A great white attack on a human would yield hysteria about sharks but people are too ignorant to think "what brought this here?" Then, there's a matter of getting seals off a federal conservation list. After those two improbable events happen, can you imagine how long it would be for Massachusetts to put together legislation to make a commercial season available?

I just read that in Canada, few hunters are even hunting seals in one area because there is no buyer to process the hides.
