I once went out to Monomoy and was supposed to primarily fly fish for stripers. I brought a regular rod too but forgot my leader materials.

Seals moved in so there were no bass on flies to be had. the blues were around so I settled for popping up blues. You can imagine what happens when you fish for blues with no leaders.I lost 6 atom poppers to blue fish that day. I think that was my worse day.

I do have a story though about when I was young , about 13 years old. I had just graduated from fishing worms to fishing lures. I saved my money so i could but a big rubber worm with a spinner in front to go after largemouth bass. this when $3 was a lot of money to most and a fortune to a 13 year old kid. After practicing casting for hours every day , day after day , i went down fishing. On my first cast i cast clear across a stream and lost my rubber worm in a tree. That killed me!! I still remember it to this day as one of my worst fishing mistakes ever.
