Wait I don't even have a boat. but if I did it would be ruinning any time there was bait in it

If your drifting with the engine off, depending on the size and amp draw of your pump......be sure your batteries are in good shape she she starts when you want to move.

Usually run the pump all the time......

Stocked with live bait, it is on. But I also bought a Shoals Bait pen. I use that if I am going to fish a particular spot for a full tide. Also good to keep them over a couple of days off the mooring.

When I'm running I can shut the pump off and I still pump because of the scoop below the boat and type of pump I have.
Very ofter I leave the pump running all night at the dock with my shore power plugged in
