The inlet is on the side right at the bottom and has a 90 inside so the water rotates in the tank and moves any crud that settles. I believe I have a 90 on the outside too which is just a screw on fittings. The outlets are as near to the top as possible and spread out on one long side so the hoses go out on both sides of the outboard.
