Oh but those "stragglers", few and far between though they are, can be very special fish.

My guess is the big train will come through some time around the Sept. new moon and taper off just after Columbus Day. After that its straggler time, IMO. Two years ago was some of the best shore fishing I've ever had and it lasted until the 20th of October, so I'll be hunting hard until then.
Two nights ago it felt like fall for about 45 minutes, but alas they were mostly small fish.
I'm heading up to NH with the family for a few days and plan to really pound it hard upon my return. I love fishing this time of year as there's rarely anyone out after 9pm, even in the obvious places.

It's not the bait
At the end of your line
It's the fishing hole
Where all the fish is blind

While I don't exactly subscribe to the notion promoted herein, two nights ago under the cover of clouds they ate well with a couple of nice fish, not slobs but no slouches either, and a bunch of middle school fish, last night too much moon and only two 1/2 hearted bumps in the same local.
Night fishing is sooooo lonely these days here in the land of sand.

Hey Steve - you can easily take care of that loneliness by posting a map
I know you sand guys had a nice bite in June, but how has it been overall this summer compared to the past 2-3 years or so?

Hey Dennis! It's been better, the last couple weeks have slowed a bit but the mung overall in some spots can be categorized (as Mikey 2na puts it) as "friendly" meaning light and close to shore. New moons better by far.
I was swimming with my wife in the surf last week after testing lures in Truro for hours without raising a fish only to have three mid twenty pounders swim right up to us. I think I am onto something with a connection to BANANABOAT sunscreen and fish attracting scents!
