Crane Needed Friday
I know this is a long shot, but I'm looking for a crane to lift a heat pump about 50ft onto the roof of my condo building (it's a converted mill) on Friday morning. Location is in North Providence, RI.
Anyone know of any companies who could do the job? The company that is signed up now has a minimum of a half-day and will charge $600 for a 30 minute job.
The heat pump is not particularly heavy, there is just no way to get it onto the roof without a crane.

That's not a bad rate for Providence they're almost double that up here. 50 ft sounds low for a converted mill building. What's the weight and size and how far from the building is the closest the downriggers can be set?

Check with the company you bought the heat pump from. They may have a delivery priced that can be included, or a relationship with someone who they sell to.Sometimes it's not as important to buy it for the lowest price as it is the lowest price delivered. Just be sure that it is not curbside delivery....

Salty,
You can get right up to the building--about 6 feet from the bricks. I'm not sure of the weight of the unit, but it can't be too heavy, maybe a 150lbs...
It might be a bit higher than 50ft, but the lifting zone is a bit elevated so you don't have to lift the entire height of the building.

The guy doing the installation is from Western Mass and works with my father out there. He's giving me a great price on the job, but doesn't have connections with companies out in RI. He'll be bringing the unit with him. So I can't really go that root....thanks! |

JK that's a truck crane job. Try Stanley Tree, or maybe Ajax. There's another guy close to me in Uxbridge but I can't remember his name he's got one crane. Begins with C.

I know Beacon Supply in Cranston has boom trucks for roofing supply's and possibly Arnold lumber may have a truck with a boom.May be worth a shot at the least a phone call.

If the thing on;y weighs 150lbs you could call a rent all and get an Aerial Lift for half the crane price. One person ride in the bucket to work the controls everyone else wait on the roof

If osha ever saw that he'd be sorry. Cranes aren't cheap but they're the SAFE way to do things. You never ever lift with a bucket truck. It's not rated...for a reason.
Do it once do it right and don't look back. That being said I'll be working with a 140' off road crane tomorrow and Thursday all day. I'll trade bills with you.
