What I could not figure out is that the Gulf is already home to menhaden which are subject to commercial fishing pressure. Why not just ban the fishing for Menhaden and let them do eat the algae?

Has anyone ever thought that the menhaden reduction fishery has taken at least one of the natural control mechanisms - pogies - out of the equation for dealing with the algae problem...

I'm sure Omega Protein is gonna be all over this one...
