He's the kind of player that "role models" are made of.
Fortunately for him, he's going to have some possibly lucrative opportunities ahead of him. He could easily become a sports analyst or look into possibly coaching.
The best thing is that he will be walking (stress WALKING) away while he's still on top of his game. How many pros hang on until they are discarded? Sure, the pay was good, and the fans were great, but what will that get you when you can barely walk and you kids grew up with a "phantom dad" that was only home part time?

How many other coaches were as choked up as Bill when one of THEIR linemen decided to retire? He will be missed, and they will definitely be retiring his number at some point.
