Wow things have changed
I spent yesterday fishing Narrigansett Bay for Blues. It the first time I have fished for Blues during the Fall migration in 2 years. I can not believe the difference. North of Jamestown use to be acres and acres of blitzing fish everywhere. yesterday zippo. I was able to find a smaller school of bigger size fish 8-10 pounds in the east passsage. We were only on them for about 20 minutes then down the went. did not see any schools of peanut bunker at all. Maybe I am overreacting but this can not bode well for the future of the Bay.

It has been the same up this way, blues very spotty or non exsisting. Something is going on in the ocean. This time of year in the past you would see a dozen flocks of gulls feeding on the spoils, this year is a no no. I have been out to the bank several times in the last two weeks and have not seen any gulls working on the way out or comimg back in late in the afternoon. Also noticed that stripers this summer were not as abundant during the daylight hours this year.

There were plenty of Blues in lower CC Bay this summer, big ones too. Got to be a PIA after a while.

I can think of two places in the bay almost guaranteed to find them. Never on top though...
They were all over the East Grounds and south of the reef while I was trying to get some black sea bass, they were chasing my scup by catch....

3 yrs ago, there were acres of peanuts, last year never saw one and so far havent seen any in the bay this year.
As far as blues, I was out with my wife/kids on Sunday, off Narr. Beach area and we had tons of blues blitzing on some small bait, maybe anchovies? It was a blast with my kids, I have to post some pics.

There were schools of Blues about 4 to 6 pounds in the East Passage in mid August. Then they disappeared and the Bay has been pretty much empty for the better part of the Summer. if you run down around the mouth of the bay you can find Stripers at night but the daytime bite is non-existant.
