I can understand your sensitivity. Hopefully you didn't feel that I was one of the people who were slighting the deaf...??
In fact, I think people who are deaf are normal people like you and I.....I am loosing my hair, some are loosing their hearing.....what's the difference? Nothing in my opinion.
Judge people by what's in their soul, and you will never be disappointed in your expectations of others......
