Given the diversity of the human species, there is no “normal” human genome sequence. We are all mutants.

I don't mind a permit...I just wish the money went to something worth while. The 20 bucks goes to just administrating the cost of the lic! Nothing good comes out of this. We have a lic for lic sake. I asked about this once and the plan is to expand the fees to eventually cover research and international travel expenses. Right now the fees cover the website and collection of names.
To me the plan seems ill conceived. I would rather have a much higher fee, several hundred $, reducing the amount of people that would buy one and doing something meaningful and beneficial with the money.
20 bucks??? = 6 gal of fuel. Most boats that are out there fishing tuna consume that much fuel in a matter of minutes.

Standard government WASTE of tax payer dollars. I think they also have everyone's e-mail (those that have internet) and could have done notifications that way. At least the gov is helping support the billions dollar in debt USPS.

Not every permit holder is online or even has email, thus they are required to conduct the snail mailing. Also a few positive notes about this system, you can get you permit 24/7. Years back it could have taken up to a month to get your permit.

Has anyone tried to buy the HMS tuna permit on-line in the last couple of days? When I select the permit type, the info message comes up and not able to purchase? I've tried both IE and FireFox browser.
