now!...what would happen if the same was for rec's..you now have a lisc....every fish you catch an keep must go in your tally book and sent in every three weeks... ok folks only 500 lbs total left to keep for the season....season over..rec;s went over the quota by 13,000 lbs..that comes off next years take....so for the rest of the year it's catch an throw back.

FAIR?...I think so....both sides are now even. The fish get a break from everyone.
ohhhh, this is good

spring and fall runs are catch/release only since those arn't "your" resident fish. u can only keep fish from july 10 till august 25 or until the recreational quota of 10 million lbs is reached. most of these will go tto the charter boats where the rich people can afford 6-800 per trip (about 100$/fish)

oh yea, u rented a house on the cape for the end of august. u save the money all year. your family has been doing this for 40 years. grandfather ,father and now u. u grew up on the beach catching and saving a bass for the big cookout at the end of the week. everyone, including your kids love the tradition. its all they talk about all year.

this year your 8 yr old daughter caught her first keeper, a 30 inch fish. the "season" ended yesterday and in spite of all the tears there will be no bass cookout and no dead fish pics of your daughters first keepa bass (u forgot the camera).

have a nice day

this is such a mess. People are going to sit around bickering about this nonsense until stripers are on the brink of endangerment again and we have to institute drastic measures. Sweet we beat another conservation effort from those sissy, annoying environmental gripers. Awesome. I don't really care where the compromise comes from, I'm glad to give up keeping fish if it means I'll have more bass to catch a few years from now, I haven't kept a bass in 2 years and somehow it's still fun. Someone's going to have to give up something in order to help the stripers, I frankly don't care who it is, I'm happy to give up keeping fish for a while and as far as comm fishing goes, new regs are a fact of life for that line of work. I'm not saying we need to ban comm striper fishing but they may need to come to terms with the fact that higher minimums may be necessary and their catch is going to be decreased. If we don't do something, regardless of what it is, there will be few bass for everyone and all the comm fishermen as well as the charters and tackle shops will be out of work with no one to blame but themselves.

The more I dig into the wide wide world of the internet.I find all kinds of information and misinformation. The deeper you dig the stranger it gets.
Some states dept of public healths are raising concerns about letting young children and women who may be pregnant eat any bass at all. Mercury and pcb. What science do you want to believe? Stats can be found to fit any argument(see global warming). I would like to have a more definitive answer to this question, not just relying on our collective PhDs. Smart as we all are.

"Krasner, a rep. for Stripers Forever, said the measures could resurface as an attachment to another bill"

Sure...we can't get it passed on it's own merits so let's attach it to the "be kind to your mother on mothers day bill". Of course the comm's would oppose that too...they have no mothers...they're the spawn of Satan.
