I had a meeting at Hinckley today for an existing client that is retrofitting a 70' sailboat. What a beauty! We're doing the custom electronics and integrating his navigational and operational electronics with his entertainment system. When it's all done it will be totally state of the art. I'll post pictures as the project progresses. If all goes well we'll be sitting down with some of the execs at Hinckley to talk about rolling some of this stuff out as a standard package. I heard they weren't doing so well as a company but I figure it's worth a call and tour them through one of their hulls decked out with all our electronics. Right now we're just concentrating on our client but I'm happy to spread the love! They have some nice powerboat models as well. Anybody know anything else about this company?

I have been to Hinckley with my bro-in-law who pines for a Hinckley. Me I can't afford a slicker from the shop across the parking lot. I like Eddies taste though. He is waiting only for the time when he has enough time to use one of the sailboats for it true purpose.

OK after reading through the company history for the last hour it's pretty clear to me that offering a "standard package" is not the way to go seeing these boats are made to order. What a cool history and very impressive technology invloved in making these boats. I wasn't as impressed though as to what was inside these boats as far as entertainment systems and system integration. The one i was on had a car stereo system with low end speakers and CRT displays! For being the Rolls Royce of the boat business it didn't fit. Hopefully that's where our company will come into play. We do custom electronic systems and this is our first pleasure craft. We currently do the commuter boats in Hingham but nothing like this. We did a big custom residential job for this client and he asked us if we did sailboats. Of course we do! We can definetly pull it off though and it will be sick. He's certainly paying us enough to do it.

I think all of their bats are custom made. Very pretty and very seaworthy boats. Of course it goes without saying, they are also very expensive. I would assume that, like all high end Mfgs today, they are hurting in this economy.

This is the hull design. The Capt told me they only made 4 of these and the one our client owns is serial number 1.

When the wife and I vacationed in Maine whether by ourselves or with my brother-in-law Eddie we always made the Hinckley pilgrimage, more than once each vacation. Southeast harbor is my favorite part of the island. Get coffees downtown ahead of time and sit there later relaxing drooling over the picnicers, generally several of them. Looking over the teak, mahogony, and other wood that I probably don't know the name of. I believe the ones I saw were for sale, made on spec at the time. This was late 90's, early 00'. I think the starting price was about 500k at the time. Of course you could have the diesel engine/s, or they were just starting the jet engine/s picnicers'. Last summer I saw three all following the first traveling east to west in the canal in front of the campground.
