Deadliest Catch captain Phil of F/V Cornelia Marie

has passed. He suffered a massive stroke. Thoughts and prayers to his family.

Wow, that sucks. He had some underlying conditions though. It must be tough on his sons. Thought and Prayers indeed.

I feel like a lost a friend. I enjoyed hosting him in my home over the years on Deadliest Catch. I hope the boys look enjoy that they got to spend time with their dad, while out fishing through the years.

He was one of my favorites... at least he did what he wanted right to the end.. not laying in a hospital bed for months or years..... and IMHO.. it's all any one of us can ask for..my thoughts go out to his boys..

A good run is better than a bad stand!

Sad news about Phil - condolences to his family and crew

He always reminded me a lot of some of the commercial guys I knew (and drank with) who are now gone

Rest easy, Cap

Now Fiddler's Green is a place I've heard tell
Where the fishermen go if they don't go to hell
Where the weather is fair and the dolphins do play
And the cold coast of Greenland is far, far away

Wrap me up in me oilskin and blankets
No more on the docks I'll be seen
Just tell me old shipmates, I'm taking a trip mates
And I'll see you someday on Fiddlers Green

"There is no royal road to this heavy surf-fishing. With all the appliances for comfort experience can suggest, there is a certain amount of hard work to be done and exposure to be bourne as a part of the price of success." From "Striped Bass," Scribner's Magazine, 1881.
