Striper Cup '10
Here we go, almost. New rules. Surf fish = 1.18 points, top 3 fish not top 5 for Angler of the Year
No more truck, $ 10k instead!!! Goodbye VS
Looking forward to challenge.

I'm looking forward to it. Haven't read the rules yet, but I like the top three versus top five going towards angler of the year. It should keep the extra kills down and also allow the average stiff an opportunity to compete for it...five big fish is really only attainable for guys who are out there 5,6,7 nights/days a week.
Pretty sure Sea Dangles said he's fishing for s-b this year too...

I'll sign up again this year. That is good that they reduced the # of fish for angler of the year. My only gripe from last year is that they never sent out pounder pins. That was weak. Did they at least have them at Striper Fest?

thanks Jim. I actually just had someone from OTW contact me which I appreciated. I guess they gave them out at the fest and then mailed them to everyone that didn't picked them up. Makes sense. Why pay for the postage if you don't have to. I just got missed.

that reads like your happy about the change??
I would say a new truck is better than 10K even if you just wanted to sell it.

No truck???.,,,,,,and no VS?????,,,,,,,,screw that,,,,was actually pumped when I found out Budwiser was now the sponsor....for once I'd truly enjoy the beer at striperfest,,,,,
I never got any pins last year, and infact, they still have my 2008 Angler of the Year trophy which was broken when I got it............
A shame that it seems to be loosing its luster. I truly enjoyed fishing in it, even though it took such a physical and mental toll on me..........Been torn on which team to fish for this year with a couple of offers.......now I know. None.

Man!!!! Completely overlooked the part about no more VS monthly awards or a shot at a truck. That is disappointing. Those were two amazing prizes to shoot for.

Just checked the site again and it says monthly shore winners win a van staal reel.
• Monthly Prizes
5 monthly boat division winners will receive a Lowrance GPS/chartplotter.

I have a prediction that the Team Striper Cup will stay in good hands this year. I have heard we locked down some new "volunteers" from points south. Some of our younger shore anglers are rounding into form also.Anyone who can't get inspired to fish for a tournament Bud sponsors should get a wedgie from Iron Mike.

I dont know about you guys, but personally, Im not thinking about the money when Im fishing the striper cup... I just think it makes it more interesting and more fun... I dont get to fish as much for me anymore, so I guess I appreciate when I do. Think its the competiveness in all of us. Just my opinion for what its worth..... And yeah, team REEL DEAL Picked up a few more hardcore fishermen, along with some sponsors for the team.....

YOu're killing me - you know that, right
It's good that the numbers are getting reduced some more - is it enough? I don't know.
Glad the beer sponsor is not Gansett. That was awful.

Good times! I think we'll be hittin' it with a solid eight, maybe 10 players, if my young boys want to fish it. And my wife said she'll take care of the house and the yard all season long !
