Conrad Lips
I just turned afew Conrads . They are about 5.5" long , 1.125 Dia head .
What lip would you [did you ] use .. thoughts were pikie 2 looks small ,
pikie 3 looks big , new lip Danny 3 looks ok
I'm comparing them to an old BM conrad. Not sure what Pichney lp is closest to ??
I'm a little pissed since these new Danny 3's were sold to me under the guise of Conrads lips

Salty's are dead on for the Conrad Jr, and reportedly Conrad Sr lips will be available soon (or maybe already)

I saw those lips yesterday and they look great.Unfortunately I made about a 100 of each so I won't need any till I'm about 60 but it will be nice to buy them instead.

I have a couple of Conrad Jr questions.
Dave Anderson did a nice how to in The Fisherman recently that showed the Jr with one belly hook. The Conrad Jr that I got from PM, who I know to be a stickler for detail, has two. Where these made with two different hook configurations?
Also, Salty's site lists the upper slot lip for the surface swimmer and the mid slot lip for the sub surface. This seems backwards to me, am I missing something? I know I could just ask you Scott, but I figure there's some other guys who might want to know.

I don't think Danny Pichney ever made a single belly hook Conrad or Conrad Jr. I've never seen one. I have a pretty good collection of his stuff here to go by. Several versions of the Conrad and Conrad Jr-no two lips are ever the same either because they were hand cut.
The higher the slot the higher it will swim. The lower the slot the lower the line tie and it will dig more.
I'm still curious who is selling danny 3 lips and representing them as Conrad lips.

no, 2 belly hooks as far as I know, even peanut had 2. That was just Dave's version to maybe suit a need he had. Not saying one is better than the other, just his wants.

Careful, I think you've got that one reversed. High slot lips go deep, low slot lips stay up. The distance between the line tie and the bottom part of the lip is the crucial dimension. The farther apart the greater the depth. There is also some lifting action that occurs with surface swimmers when the line tie is low that keeps them coming up. That is also why you bend the line tie down to go up and up to go down. Gets confusing.
Pardon the begging, but it is another reason why we want a midslot Pikie 3 lip option to replicate the original large Pichney surface swimmer lip.
Either that or a run of these new conrad sr lips with a mid slot (the actual Sr lip has a high slot, but the larger pichney atom and the slope head used a midslot conrad style lip). Please

I had to sit down and think about that for a minute too Bill. I put the line ties inside out on your last batch

Thanks George good detail on distance between bottom lip and line tie.
I saw the article [dave anderson] the plug was pretty much spot on except for 2nd belly hook.?? That hook probably is too big a detail to just omit.
If the size ,weight and lip placement were all the same what would the affect be by omitting 2nd hook? - not as deep ,or not as stable.
I had a BM to compare to - had 2 belly hooks and same basic size.

Not in the budget this year, great show though I've been twice. I will admit, I'm not much of a seminar guy when it comes to fishing. Will you be there?
