Don't have the rod yet either. Was thinking the VS200 but don't want to regret not getting the 250 after. May go with a rod I have now initially, probably 10ft m-h 3 to 6 oz range.

i say all of the above aswell and what are you looking to fish on it. If your looking to jig the canal and sling eels I say a 250 might not be bad, if its plugging then I would go with a 200

i dont fish the canal but with a rod with that rating i would say go with the 250, its only about 3oz heavier and has a nice retrive rate of 36.5in. i was just in ur spot and lucklie my fiance picked up a 250 for me and it matches great with my gsb1201m

I like a 200 on a 9 ft. and 10 ft. rod but prefer the 250 on a 10. You can't feel the weight difference of either when once you've mounted them on a rod but the 250 looks a little large to me on a 9 footer and it looks better than the 200 on a 10. It's all about looks.....lol. Either way you go you will be fine.

I have a 200, 250 and 275.
Go with the 250, it only a few onces heavier and holds alot more line. The size is almost the same.
I fish the 250 on everything from 10 to 12ft surfrods, and put it on my 8ft boat rod on the rare occasion.
I only use the 200 in the spring and on rods 10 ft and under.
I think the 250 is more versatile, and I know alot of people who bough a 200 then moved to the 250 the next season.
Thats my 2 cents.
