Trailer Bunks Slides

With my new trailer, I'm concerned that the boat will be tough to get off especially if I miss high tide. Although I only launch once to go in springtime and pull once to come out in the fall.

I found some glides at eastern marine that look like you just screw then over the carpet.

Anyone have experience with bunk slides?

I have no experience with the slides BUT the picture shown only has 2 bunks and the kit is $52. I have 6 bunks on my trailer so is that 3 kits ($156?), how many on yours? I have a light weight 22' CC and have no problems at all launching at any tide over the last 3 years at numerous docks, even alone. Give it a try before installing slides.

I only have 4 bunks, so thats why I thought I could put them on where I want since they are pieces. I think there would be leftovers though.

I will be launching without them because shes on there now, and it would be a beach to get them on. I will see how it goes then decide while the trailer is empty all summer.

Nightfighter...I don't want to remove the carpet, so the ones I linked to look ike they go over everything.

Lube the carpet up with some pogie oil. Slippery and will also attrack fish to the boat. Store the trailer as close as possible to your neighbors house when not in use

Eastern Trailer also has roller replacements where you take off the wooden bunk and replace them with the rollers, not priced too bad either. I've bought some things from them over the years and have had good luck with them.

I think it's a non-issue. Regardless of the tide, just sink the trailer deep enough so that the stern floats free.

You can make your own from the white PVC "wood" from the lumber yard. Recess the screws and router the edges with a 3/4 round over bit.

I emailed the company who make these slides and they told me that my boat was too heavy for them.

Also, be careful on the install. The directions say you can put them right over the bunk carpet...the problem is the carpet compresses and the screw become exposed and dig into the gel coat. I have heard from a few guys that have experienced this and I would install them on the wood directly if I was doing it.


I ended up getting a can of liquid roller.

I was thinking about soaking it with dish soap, but I'll try the liquid roller first.

(This may all be for naught because I may not be able to get the boat to the house...too may low trees, and tight turns. It may be easier to keep it in the boatyard. But I would really like it home next to my work shop.)

This liquid stuff sounds like the easiest/cheapest and quickest way to go for now.

Its only my first year with the new trailer so I'll see how it goes.

See if you can get your hands on an old truck bedliner - cut to shape and screw in.

I just sink the boat/trailer in enough to get it off the trailer since getting it on is easy, I've never had an issue.

I have tried Liquid Rollers. I've also used non-stick cooking spray. I've put dishwashing liquid on and I'm currently using Armor All. I bet I don't need any of them but I do it anyway and once all the leftover Armor All I have is gone, if I do feel like I need something, I'll use the cooking spray as it is the easiest on the environment.

and took them off in about 2 weeks as I could easily see the slides starting to scratch the gel coat. Not a heavy boat either 1600 lb Center Console.
