Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day ...
show him where to fish and ... you'll be sorry

Already has. As big as his smile was, I am sure mine was bigger.

The only thing better would be having the kid cast and hookup on his own. I'm not knocking your assist in this catch, but the feeling that he will get when he knows what to do on his own will be equally priceless. Kudos for getting headed in the right direction!

I agree. When my son and daughter were young I used to hook up and hand them the rod. When they graduated to casting themselves it was even better. So awesome!! My goal is to get my son a keeper size fish this year when he casts, we'll see.
Great job on the fish RickHern!!

Great work Rick. Kid looks thrilled. I love that stuff.

Guy's I agree that when he hooks up on his own, that will be the ultimate. Times like this sometimes make you appreciate what you have learned and how fine a line there can be between catching or not.
We were throwing the same plugs, same water, I had 5 hits and they had none. The difference was in the cadence of the lure. They wanted a slow and strong POP...pause...POP...pause. Hits were all on the pause. No matter how many times I told them to slow it down, they didn't quite get it. How many times have we all been on the opposite side of that equation?(I still am way too often!!).
