The brakes suck unless you buy aftermarket rotors.
The transmission sucks.
The weather seals around the doors keep separating from the body even though they were resealed and glued. This allows a lot of wind noise, then in the winter, moisture gets in and the inside of the windshield frosts over when parked overnight.
The gas mileage sucks (hers is the 4.0L six cylinder), but she doesn't put a lot of miles on it, so we overlook that issue.
I think the suspension is too "rolley" they should have used stiffer shocks.
Resale value sucks too. They don't want to give us much of anything even with such low mileage.
This was our second GC. First was a '97 (overall better vehicle) but that was totalled in an accident.
There are some nice features. It's very comfortable to drive. 4WD works very well. Very roomy.
Would I ever buy another? Absolutely not. Too many negatives for me.
I have a 2002 with the 4.0 and I'm still getting 20 mpg highway, even after almost 230,000 miles.

Got aftermarket brake rotors the first time the stock rotors warped.

Had a tranny problem at 100,000. Nothing since.

Still doesn't burn a drop of oil between changes.

Every so often the turn signals go schizoid--banging on the steering wheel usually gets them working again

Other than that--been pretty reliable. Had to replace the tranny linkage last year. Alternator 5 years ago. Not much else--everything else is still original.

The new V-6 engines are gas hogs and IMO not as reliable as the old 4.0 straight 6. This is going to be my last Jeep. If they still made the straight 6 I might consider another one--the best thing about them always was that bomb-proof engine.

2006 Liberty Diesel.
It's a tank, 60K service, change the tranny fluid. Oil change every 10K,
fuel filter every 20K

2005 for the Grand Cherokee, 2006 for the Wrangler. None of the other current models ever had the straight 6. Sure on the Grand, not so sure on the Wrangler--could have been 2007.
