Bed on Block from Sunday p.m. to Monday a.m.?
Hi team S-B,
I have a trip planned for an all-night fishing bout on Block Sunday into Monday.
Yesterday, I landed the most important job interview of my life at 1 p.m. Monday.
Problem is, I don't want to miss out on the most important fish of my life and a night out with compadres.
Does anyone have a bed on Block that I can use from roughly midnight to 7 a.m.? Willing to pitch in on rent/motel fees for the stay ...
Please reply or pm, or just tell me what the fuch I should do.
By the way, Any Luck?

Don't make the same mistakes I've made letting the fishing addiction run my life and lose jobs because I was young and couldn't leave the fish. The fish will be there when you can responsibly pursue them without jeopardizing your future. I say skip the fishing and be prepared for the interview so you can earn the money necessary for future trips. I always feel the fish of a lifetime is coming on my next cast and after 30+ years of striper fishing from shore I still haven't cleared the 40lb+ hurtle.

Good job may open better opportunities to fish.
Besides, if you make it just in time smelling like fish you might not get the job anyway.

The best advice right here, and I lived it a few years back
I almost lost everything for a stupid fish, the problem is with me is I think I should be fishing 24/7 everything else comes afterwards. I'm pretty sure it has to do with addictions

I have almost nothing because of stupid decisions, I've even spent a summer living out of my p/u behind the post office in BB when I was homeless for about 2yrs. and I'm still basically a loser in most peoples eyes because I have almost nothing at 47. Yeah I got problems but there only mine and I'm the only person whom I am hurting. So take it from someone who has been there and still is . Fishing should not even be in the top 10 when it comes to important things in life.
If I added up everything I own it wouldn't even equal $10k and most likely is closer to $5k. And as far as lifetime income earned I might be over $100K but no where near $200k total lifetime income, so yeah I know where that road goes.

Unless you got a big set of knockers, sleep and be ready for the interview.
What happens if the ferry breaks down and you can't get back in time???? Or you leave your car keys in your buddy's bag on Block??? Stranger things have happened.
From someone who's life absolutely revolves around striper fishin, trust me, money is more important. Don't be stupid and make the right choice. Go large!!!!!

I'm not going to sugar coat this...
If you go out to block before "The most important interview of your life"
you are an idiot. Times are tough, there are people lined up for good jobs. Don't be a f'up.
If I was one of your compadres... you'd never step foot on the ferry.

I gotta agree with all the rest. Ive been screwed by the weather out there. Nothing like "having" to spend an extra day or two on a fishy island. Thats after ya have a job and they understand. I like PaulS's advice, nail the job then spend a weekend out there. Oh yeah, and wait till the fall to get the real experience. Good luck with the interview. I would go fishing on the mainland get your lungs full of salt air then nail the interview.

When you're right, you're right. I guess I just needed a dozen consciences echoing my own.
No trip for me. I'll ace the interview, and have you guys to thank.
I'll let you all know how it goes.
Any luck?

If the interview goes well, (chrisjoe13 and I talked about it) can we expect some quality "intel" back in return?
Best of luck and knock 'em dead!

Now you sound like a winner!!!! I'm glad you posted so we could try and help you stay on the right path.....to what I hope is a long satisfying success filled life
Best of luck with your interview and if you haven't looked into the best way to approach the interview start a new thread to get some pointers from the successful guys here. The job market is very tough and the competition is fierce so do your homework and be prepared for questions like: What are you looking for from our company and why do want to work here...etc.

Thanks Tagger, I'll bet you never would have thought I live the way I do just by my appearances and actions but that may help some folks understand my sometimes wacky point of view. I know I'm out there but I cause no harm to anyone being the way I am in fact catch this I still don't have health care even with it being available at no cost to me because I feel no one should have to contribute their tax dollars towards me. I would like to get a tetanus shot because I haven't been to a doctor in about 14yrs. but I know if I go they are going to enroll me and that to me is not right, I wish you could get one just like the flu shots.
Opps....getting off topic but I felt the more I exposed myself the more he would listen and realize I speak from first hand negatively impacted experience.
Me a motivational speaker wouldn't that be like an honest politician? I a very unsuccessful person telling others how to be a success

Well-advised by a jury of my peers. Thanks all for the support, everyone.
Now, in the interview, should I pull a "Luds" and drop the F-bomb?
Any Luck?

Funny, I saw this post this morning and was going to respond but I bit my tongue to see how others would answer.
As for dropping the "F BOMB" during the interview...I'm a bit mixed as it does depend on the line of work for which you are an applicant for...
If you're dream job is that of a stripper at the Kings Inn, I'd say go for it

Good choice on staying and going to the interview.
Hopefully you will make another good choice based on this:
If this job interview is truly that important to you, do yourself a huge favor. Go over to Barnes and Noble or Borders and get this book:
No-Nonsense Job Interviews by Arnold G. Boldt. Costs $14.86, that is including the MAss sales tax. It will be the best $14 you will ever spend in your life. Think of it as buying a nice plug that you are going to use over and over again to catch that supa cow job. It is a quick and easy read, and it WILL make the difference. It will help you and prepare you for job interviews for everything from shovelin horse shat to runnin a fortune 500 company. I first bought a copy when I got out of college and then went and got it again a few months ago during the job hunting process. It will open your eyes not only just to job interviews, but in dealing with people you meet in general.
Read it a couple of times over the weekend and be prepared to wow the shat out of the interviewers.
Good luck. We need another tax paying worker in the US.

Better yet, let's shoot a vid: "Any Luck? on Block!" Starring Any Luck? himself.
Videos of heinous skunkings aren't that marketable, but what the heck, we could try.
