I mix up a batch in a large pickle jar that goes like this: 12 oz. Tung, 8 oz. Turps and 4 oz. Spar Varnish. I put the drilled blanks in the jar and let them soak for an hour or two. I know I have seen all kinds of posts on the soak time, but this has worked for me and I haven't had any problems with changing the bouyancy of the lures etc. I then hang them to dry for several days and then use rattle can primer. You should probably stick with an oil based primer to stay compatible with the Tung oil. (Tung oil is a main ingredient in many oil based paints). After that you can put just about any finish, acrylic or otherwise, over that. I finish off with System Three epoxy.
